15/12/2005 - Clubs are reminded that they must get their club entry forms and club contact forms back to the Assistant Secretary by no later than Saturday 31st December 2005. If your club has lost or mislaid your forms they can be downloaded from here (You will need acrobat reader to open the file) or a word format file can be downloaded from here. There has also been a very poor response to the request for clubs to send in their Under 14's and Under 16's averages for inclusion on the website and 2006 handbook - only 13 clubs have sent them in!! Again you only have until the 31st December to get them in to Ieuan Hughes.
24/11/2005 - After 31 years devoted service as Secretary of the League Clive Thomas read out his final Secretary's report at the Annual General Meeting held at the Gnoll in Neath last night. It was an emotional time for the league stalwart who had to ask League Chairman Henry Williams to read out the final lines of the report. To mark his retirement he was presented with a clock by league President Bill Edwards, OBE.
League Chairman Henry Williams, President Bill Edwards and Treasurer Bryn John all praised the work that Clive Thomas had done for the league over the years. He will be a hard act to follow.
The new secretary elected at the AGM is John Davies, who was previously the Vice-Chairman, and he can be contacted by e-mail at email@example.com or by snail mail at 8 Llethri Road, Felinfoel, Llanelli, Carmarthenshire SA14 8HT - Telephone: 01554-778951 (Home) or 01554-776850 (Work). The new Vice-Chairman is Glyn Jones of the Carmarthen Wanderers Cricket Club.
24/11/2005 - Following a rule change introduced at the AGM last night any club not represented at the AGM in future will be subject to a fine of £30.00. There were eleven clubs not represented at last night's AGM!!
24/11/2005 - Following a proposal from the Ynystawe C.C. there have been changes to the playing rules of all competitions for the 2006 season. The changes will allow girls to play in competitions a year below their actual age - eg a girl who is under 17 as at the 1st September prior to the operable playing season will be able to play in the Under 16's League, and a girl who is under 12 will be able to play in the Under 11's Cup Competition etc.
13/09/2005 - Congratulations to Simon Jones and the rest of the England squad on regaining the ashes after 18 years of repeated defeats at the hands of Australia. Simon topped the England bowling averages with 18 wickets at an average of 21 runs per wicket and averaged 33 with the bat after four not outs. See the full averages here.
Hopefully Simon can recover from his ankle injury before England depart on the winter tour of Pakistan and India in late October.
13/09/2005 - Club organisers are reminded to send in their batting and bowling averages to the assistant secretary as soon as possible. The earlier they are sent in the earlier they can be published on the website.
26/08/2005 - Scorecards for all the finals have now been added to the site click here and follow the links.
22/08/2005 - Ieuan Hughes, our Assistant Secretary, breathed a huge sigh of relief as the 2005 finals week came to a successful end last night. The weather had been kind to us all week and all matches were played as scheduled, with the rain arriving just after the final presentations had been made.
A special thank you to the Pontarddulais Cricket Club for once again allowing us the use of their excellent facilities, to all the umpires who gave up their time to officiate in the finals, and of course to all the sponsors of the league and cup competitions. Without all their support the finals week would not be as easy to arrange.
For the first time since 1998 all the competitions were won by different clubs - Llangennech the Under 11's Cup, Maesteg Celtic - Under 12's League, Pontarddulais - Under 13's Cup, Dafen - Under 14's League, Gowerton - Under 14's Cup, Swansea - Under 15's Cup and Ynysygerwn - Under 16's League. To see all the results click here. The annual presentation evening takes place at the Kalsonic Kansei Sports & Social Club, Llethri Road, Felinfoel, LLANELLI on Friday 30th September 2005, commencing at 7pm. Tickets are restricted in numbers so see your club organiser and book your tickets early. Photographs from the finals week are now online - click here to visit the first of 4 pages. Match scorecards will be added as soon as possible.
11/08/2005 - The line-up for the finals week is now complete as the dry weather allowed the semi-final play-offs to take place this week. The final of the Under 14's League sees Dafen play Gowerton Blues, while in the Under 16's final last years' losing finalists BSC Port Talbot will be hoping to go one better when they play Ynysygerwn.
11/08/2005 - The final of the Under 13's Cup sees Pontarddulais take on Gowerton, while Gowerton will play Dafen in the Under 14's Cup final. The under 15's Cup final sees Swansea play Llangennech. To see the full dates and times of the finals please click here.

11/07/2005 - The League Under 13's and Under 16's representative squads to play Bridgend & District at Newbridge Fields, Bridgend on Sunday 17th July 2005 are now online.
11/07/2005 - England's Simon Jones, who began his career playing for Dafen in the SWJCL found himself entering the record books in the one day international against Australia at Headingley, Leeds, last Thursday 7th July. With new rules being tried during the 3 match series Simon found himself being substituted by Vikram Solanki after he had bowled his 10 overs. This meant that Simon was not allowed to bat during the England innings. As it happened Solanki was not required to bat either as England won by 9 wickets.
05/07/2005 - The league tables have been updated - The Under 11's Cup Zones C & D have been badly affected by withdrawals. Clubs in these zones have now been given permission to re-arrange all cancelled fixtures by the end of July so as to try and make the competition competitive. The wet weather continues to wreak havoc across the league - In Zone A of the Under 16's League some clubs have only played 2 matches!!
14/06/2005 - League tables have been updated.
05/06/2005 - Both the rep games against Carmarthenshire were cancelled due to the wet weather. League tables have been updated.

15/05/2005 - The management committee were left stunned at their monthly meeting last week when our secretary Clive Thomas announced that he has decided to stand down after this year's AGM in November. Clive has served the league as secretary for over 30 years - he is adamant that he will not change his mind. Anyone interested in taking over this challenging position should contact the league Chairman Henry Williams as soon as possible. Clive has also decided to stand down as an umpire in the South Wales Cricket Association with immediate effect. The contribution that he has made to the Junior League is immeasurable.
09/05/2005 - The opening weak of the season proved to be a disaster for some clubs as all their matches fell foul of the wet weather we have had over the last couple of weeks. Tuesday night saw only one match played in the Under 16's League when Porthcawl entertained BSC Port Talbot. The weather improved on Wednesday and Thursday to allow play in the under 14's league. There was also some play in the Under 12's league on Friday. The results from week one, received to date, can be seen here. Don't forget if your match was cancelled you must still send in a result card within 4 days.
26/04/2005 - With just a week to go before the commencement of the 2005 season the league has received the news that Morriston C.C. have withdrawn from the Under 11's KO Cup Competition and Dafen have withdrawn from the Under 16's League Competition. Fixtures have been amended accordingly.
04/02/2005 - The 2005 league & cup fixtures have been added to the site - new for 2005 - the fixtures can be downloaded in word or .pdf format to make it easier to print off.
21/12/2004 - The Under 14 & Under 16 Averages have now been added. There has been a very poor response from the clubs despite several requests for the averages to be sent in to the Assistant Secretary Ieuan Hughes. In the Under 14's League Zone C Aberdare was the only club to send in their averages, while in the Under 16's Zone D only 2 clubs replied. If you are not included in the averages then blame your club organiser.
21/12/2004 - Congratulations to Simon Jones for his 4 wicket bowling performance in the second innings of the 1st Test between England and South Africa which put England into a winning position.
29/9/2004 - Congratulations to James Harris of Pontarddulais C.C. on his selection for the England Under 15 Squad for 2005. James has captained Wales age group sides for the past four seasons and is the current West of England Under 14 captain. His selection follows impressive performances for Wales and for the West of England Under 14 side during the E.C.B. Regional Tournament held at the National Academy at Loughborough. James will also captain the West of England Under 15 team to the West Indies in March/April 2005. Good luck from everyone associated with the SWJCL.
31/8/2004 - Much to the relief of our Assistant Secretary Ieuan Hughes the finals week was completed yesterday as Carmarthen Wanderers won the Under 12's League final by beating Pontarddulais by 13 runs (See match scorecard) and Dafen defeated Gowerton to take the Under 13's Cup competition (See match scorecard).
26/8/2004 - The Under 12's League final and the Under 13's Cup final between Dafen and Gowerton which have had to be re-arranged due to the weather will now take place at Pontarddulais on Bank Holiday Monday 30th August 2004 when hopefully the weather will be dry.
23/8/2004 - The re-arranged under 12's League final between Pontarddulais and Carmarthen Wanderers scheduled for tonight has again fallen victim to the weather. It is now hoped to play the match later this week.
23/8/2004 - Congratulations to Swansea Under 14's who made up for their disappointments of last Thursday evening when they comfortably defeated their Maesteg Celtic counterparts to win the Under 14's league final yesterday. Man of the match was Josh Hughes of Swansea. View the match scorecard, and photographs here.
In one of the most exciting finals ever seen since the formation of the Junior League Aberdare won the Bill Edwards Cup for the Under 16's League when they defeated BSC Port Talbot by 3 runs. Paul Taylor of BSC was voted man of the match. See the match scorecard and photographs.
20/8/2004 - Congratulations to Pontarddulais who defeated their Swansea counterparts by 77 runs in the final of the Under 14's Cup Competition last night. Ieuan Hughes breathed a sigh of relief as the presentation of the cup was made just before the rain arrived. See match scorecard & photographs.
Our Assistant Secretary Ieuan Hughes is pulling his hair out after both the Under 12's League and Under 13's Cup finals fell foul of the wet weather. The Under 12's final was abandoned 5 overs into the Pontarddulais innings after the Pontarddulais innings had been completed. The under 13's final between Dafen and Gowerton was cancelled after heavy rain during late afternoon prevented any play. Both matches will now have to be re-arranged.
16/8/04 - The final league tables are now online - there are still a couple of result cards outstanding but these do not affect the final outcome. Also online is the line-up for the finals week which starts tonight with the final of the Under 11's Cup Competition between Pontarddulais and Maesteg Celtic.
9/8/04 - There will be a play-off tonight to decide the Zone C of the Under 11's Cup with Gowerton Blues entertaining Clydach with wickets pitched at 5.30pm. The winners will play Mesteg Celtic in the Semi-Finals on Thursday evening. Carmarthen Wanderers came through on the rails to pip Llangennech and Ammanford to the Zone A title in the Under 14's League, securing the title on a count back of the results between the three teams. Aberdare claimed the Under 14's zone C title.
9/8/04 - There has been a change to the line-up for the finals week. Due to Pontarddulais C.C. reaching the final of the Welsh Cup Competition which takes place at Sophia Gardens next Sunday 15th August the finals week will now commence on the Monday evening with the Under 11's Cup final. The matches scheduled for the Sunday will now take place on Thursday19th and Friday 20th August instead. The full schedule for the finals-week will be posted as soon as the semi-final play-offs are concluded this week. Our assistant secretary Ieuan Hughes is now praying for dry weather for the next 2 weeks before he goes to bed each evening!!

Lets all pull together this year and get the cards in on time and reduce the record fines imposed last year!!
23/04/04 - Our congratulations go to Simon Jones who, after a successful tour of the West Indies, has been awarded a central contract by England for the summer. He is the first Glamorgan player to be awarded such a contract, and with Mike Kasprowicz also being selected to represent Australia on their tour of Zimbabwe in May & June, Glamorgan will be without their 2 main strike bowlers for much of the season.
01/04/2004 - The league is grateful to the Co-Op Community Dividend Scheme which has made a grant towards the league representative programme for 2004.
01/03/2004 - Congratulations to Simon Jones on his elevation to the England squad for the tour of the West Indies. After his terrible injury in the first Ashes Test in Australia in November 2002 Simon has fought hard to get back to full fitness and his hard work has paid off. Simon proved his fitness on the Development tour of India and Sri-Lanka where he took 10 wickets in his first full match since coming back from injury. Good luck on the tour from everyone at the South Wales Junior League.
